More Info

Sensor grinding technology for consistent grinding texture. The grinding levels of La Specialista Maestro go from 1 (very fine) to 8 (coarse) and they have been defined in order to produce the perfect sized powder and the best aroma in your cup depending on the type of coffee beans you have chosen.

2 options for milk frothing: automatic for convenience, manual to live the barista experience.

6 pre-set recipes for an optimal cup within minutes.

Heating system for milk. A dedicated heating system for milk preparation ensures great steam performances.

Active temperature control. High performing thermoblock with controlled temperature system which ensures temperature stability when brewing. La Specialista Maestro offers up to 5 infusion temperature profiles to select, correspondent to a range of temperatures between 90º and 98º C.

Smart tamping station. After grinding, tamp in the filter holder by pushing the lever down. Once the correct pressure is added to the coffee ground, tamping will stop. It allows you to reach consistent pressure results on the dose, without having any mess of spilled coffee grounds on the machine and on the working area.

Dynamic Pre-infusion. Thanks to the exclusive and new Dynamic pre-infusion, La Specialista Maestro works by automatically adapting the pre-infusion length to the density of the coffee dose to ensure the entire surface of the pod is evenly and gently wet for an optimal extraction.

LatteCrema milk system. La Specialista Maestro not only offers an authentic manual experience, but also simplicity and convenience thanks to the fully automatic milk option.

Several disappointments

Overall I am quite disappointed in my purchase of this machine and really wish that I had gone with something different. The quality just isn't there and dealing with Delonghi's customer service for warranty was a nightmare. I purchased this machine in October 2021 and had to bring it in for service in March 2022 because it was leaking from inside the machine when trying to use the LatteCrema system. While this machine is capable of making a good cup of coffee, there are several items that Delonghi needs to correct. The LatteCrema system doesn't heat the milk enough when steaming so you are left with a lukewarm latte. It would be great if there were temperature options for the milk. Although it lets you customize your own settings using the My button, you can't get it to produce a default version of the same type of beverage for someone else. The only way that you can make the default version is to reset it. I should be able to use the My button for my custom version or toggle it off and just use the Ok button for the default. The manual steam wand is terrible and it seems impossible to get a thick froth from it. Finally, for this price point, it certainly should last longer than 5 months before needing repair (which had me without my machine for 3 weeks).

La Specialista Maestro - empowering and awesome

I've been holding out on buying an espresso machine for a few years now. In the past, I had considered either the Delonghi La Specialista or the Breville Barista Express, both of which I have read are decent machines. However, I am really glad that I got the Maestro. It is obviously in a different price bracket (it is much pricier!) so direct comparisons would not be fair, but I do like how Delonghi has refined many components in the Maestro (from the original La Specialista), from the sensor grinding tech, to the tamping mechanism (very little mess), to the single-wall portafilters (better taste), to the automatic milk frother (although I prefer using the steam wand as I like my milk extra, extra hot). Taste is always subjective, but I enjoy the deep and rich flavour created within the Maestro to almost any cafe that I've ever been to in North America or Europe. I alternate between lattes/mochas and cappuccinos. I see the Maestro machine as one that I'll use for many years. For newbies, the Maestro can basically run itself, as they develop their barista skills in getting great pulls from various bean types/dosages as well as learning how to steam milk to do latte art (if that is their interest). I bought my espresso machine from ECS Coffee in Burlington, which carries a lot of equipment, accessories, and coffee beans, some of which they roast themselves. To note, the knowledge and service of the folks who work there is top-shelf. A quick tip: if you are interested in purchasing any of their coffee/espresso machines, you might wish to visit one of their ECS Coffee locations, where you may be able to try out one of their machines on display. You might also ask if a discount is possible if you purchase a new machine in-store. Overall, I've been very happy with my purchase. Whichever espresso machine you ultimately decide upon, enjoy the barista experience of making your own coffee ~

Go for it !

Go for it ! This is the best coffee machine i ever owned ! I actually have the first version (La Specialista EC9335M) purchased in March 2020, and love the machine, the coffee it gives and the built quality, it’s actually for sales on Kijiji ;o) When i found out that Delonghi Australia and Italy had put together a more sophisticated and improved machine (EC9665M), and found out where it was available in Canada, i purchased it from ESC Coffee in Burlington Ontario. The ECS Coffee personal are great and Professional (tanks to Rebecca for her great support, advises and help !) The coffee machine was purchased on Friday and received in Québec City the next Tuesday, packed into two cardboard boxes. 1000 times Thanks to ECS Coffee for preparing the package over the weekend. If you want to purchase coffee-related machines and accessories, this is the place to go ! A little word about the machine : Improvements / differences compared to the EC9335M : - Single wall filters instead of high dual wall - Five temperature settings, adapting the water temperature to the coffee bean roast. I actually drink the Lavazza Crema medium roast and the coffee taste is completely different and improved, where the chocolate and cereal flavors are really enhanced and complete. Grinding at 4, temperature at 96DC, dosage set at 17) - Milk Container & automatic frothing - Six different programmed coffee types I drink coffee with soya milk and the machine works very well and gives a great taste with all the foam you want. Since the machine is able to deliver a real barista coffee, the espresso taste is great and, espresso lovers will love the machine. A last note on the dimensions : The machine is larger than the previous model (EC9335M), you need to make sure it will fit onto your coffee bar of kitchen countertop. When purchasing the machine (EC9665M), i new it wasn’t going to fit on my countertop, the height of the machine is 18.25 inches (464mm) and the distance between my countertop and the cupboards is 18 inches. I removed 0.5 inches on the height of the bean container and it fits perfectly. Since the machine has non-slip silicone pads to prevent it from moving around, i installed thin felt pads on the two rear legs to be able to easily move it around to fill it up with coffee beans and water. I strongly recommend the La Specialista Maestro and purchasing it from ECS Coffee.
