Our Decaf comes from a single farm nested in Huila-Colombia, Finca la Florida owned by Gilberto Rojas. Gilberto and his family are known for their immaculate growing and processing methods that secured them a 2nd place in 2015 Cup of Excellence competition. Since then, every year they produce very fine coffees.
Sugar cane (Ethyl Acetate) is one of the most natural processes that preserves the great original flavour of the coffee beans. Ethyl Acetate is derived from sugar cane, it is a natural derivative that arises from fermenting sugar, and in the decaffeination process, it bonds molecularly to coffee compounds and separates the caffeine from the coffee bean.
Roasted for any brew method.
This is whole bean coffee, need your coffee ground? Check out out grind selection chart to choose your perfect grind for your brewing needs.
Roast level: Medium roast
Tasting notes: Sugar cane, nutty, juicy
Origin: Huila, Colombia
Variety: Red & Yellow Colombia
Process: Sugar Cane (EA), Washed
Elevation: 1,600MASL
The Bean. This coffee is red and yellow Colombia varietal, grown at 1,650 MASL with a fermentation time of 36-42 hrs subsequently washed, and finally sun-dried for 28 days.
Flavours are juicy, round and pleasant, notes of sugar cane, black tea and roasted nuts are a delicacy. This is a coffee that blurs the line of the expectation that a decaf has less flavour than a caffeinated coffee.
The Roast. We take the gently decaffeinated beans and transform them into a delightfully flavourful decaf. A Decaf that doesn’t disappoint is often hard to find. This organic decaf is formidably tasty and expertly roasted by hands in small batches. The flavour is predominantly notes of sugar cane with a nutty aftertaste and no acidity.
Brew Method(s) for Decaf. Our Decaf is enjoyable with any of your preferred brew methods, great for filter or espresso.
100% whole bean decaf coffee.

If you are purchasing a bag of whole bean coffee on our website, you can select your grind method of choice (at no extra charge!) from the dropdown and we will grind and ship it to you. We grind the beans freshly for you at our warehouse in ECS Coffee Burlington right before your order is shipped, and reseal the package to maintain optimal freshness in transit.
If you are visiting us in store, you can also request for your beans to be ground in store before you take them home.
We use a commercial BUNN Burr Grinder to grind the beans.
Please note: Freshly ground coffee is non-refundable and not returnable. To ensure that you receive a ground coffee that is consistent with your brew method of choice, refer to our Grind Chart below!
FINE |
For use with espresso machines. Fine coffee grinds will have the size and feel of sand. |
MEDIUM FINE |
Choose a medium fine grind if you are brewing with a Moka Pot, stovetop espresso brewers or an Aeropress. |
MEDIUM |
Cone Filter - We use two medium settings depending on your brewer. The Cone Filter medium setting is a bit finer, and is suitable for pour-over drip brewers (cone style) such as Hario, Melitta, Clever. It is also used for cone style automatic brewers. Flat Bottom Filter - This setting is suitable for coffee machines with a flat bottom basket filter, such as commercial automatic drip machines. It is also an appropriate setting for if you have a refillable coffee capsule for use in Keurig® machines. Medium coffee grinds will be around the same size as sea salt. |
PERCOLATOR |
If you are brewing with a percolator, the grind setting is a bit coarser than your standard medium grind, to minimize grinds making it through the filter. We use a percolator-specific setting on our grinder. |
MEDIUM COARSE |
Vaccuum brewers, Chemex. |
COARSE |
For french press, cold brew coffee. A coarse grind is very chunky in look, like crushed peppercorns. |
Remember that this coffee grind chart is a guideline! If you use a coffee brewing method that is not listed here, feel free to reach out and we will let you know which grind is the best for your brewer.
