One of our signature blends, Privateer Dark is the epitome of balance in a dark roast, featuring coffees from the Americas, East Africa, and Indonesia, representing the three great growing regions for specialty coffee in the world. Pulling the complex, sweet notes from its Ethiopian component, deep and heavy flavours from the coffees of Sumatra, and the full-forced balance of it's Colombian portion, the resulting cup is one that will hit all corners of your tongue, that can be enjoyed at any time of day.
This iteration in particular is also grown with special attention paid to the quality of life for its producers, and careful consideration for the environment, thanks to its Rainforest Alliance and Organic certifications.

This has become my go-to dark roast. I brew it in a French press and usually drink it black - there are no acrid too bitter flavours. I’m personally not a fan of coffees that have a slight tart/acidic taste (I think they call it “bright”), and this one is low on that brightness scale, which is perfect for me. It has hints of something toasty and sweet and has an overall balanced flavour to me (noting the lack of tartness, which I do prefer). The roasting date varies a bit, so I’ve had some batches that were fresher than other times, but overall the freshness is quite good.
I tasted this at a cafe last year in the before-time and have been buying it since, tastes great with both the french press and regular brewer. I recommend.
Really enjoy this darker roast offered by Reunion Island.
Smokey blend is great for that morning wake up!
I have been buying it from you for more than a year and we quite like it.
