Mother Parkers traces its roots back to 1912, when Stafford Higgins co-founded a Toronto wholesale grocery distributor called Higgins & Burke, supplying staples like tea and coffee to local grocers. In the 1930s the family began packing their own tea and roasting their own coffee under the Mother Parker's name — a warm, homey brand evoking a comforting cup at a friendly matron's kitchen table — and the name eventually became the company's own.

Today, Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee is a fourth-generation, family-owned and privately held company headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, and ranks among the largest coffee roasters in North America. It roasts coffee in Canada and supplies many of the continent's leading retailers, foodservice operators and offices, ranking among the top coffee roasters in North America alongside household names like Folgers and Maxwell House.

The company has a long track record of innovation, from the invention of the rectangular tea bag to the reimagining of single-serve coffee through recyclable pod technology.
