Airscape

Developed by Planetary Design, a company founded in Missoula, Montana, by outdoor enthusiast Scott Brundage, Airscape was created to solve a universal problem for coffee lovers: rapid bean degradation. While traditional airtight containers seal food inside, they also trap stale air within the container, accelerating the oxidation process that destroys delicate coffee flavours and aromas. Recognizing that oxygen is the ultimate enemy of fresh whole bean coffee, the engineering team set out to develop a storage system that actively removes air from the equation.

The breakthrough came with the introduction of the patented Airscape inner lid mechanism. Unlike ordinary storage jars, the Airscape features a durable inner plunger that users push down into the canister. As the lid moves downward, a specialized valve forces the air out of the container before locking securely into place against the level of the contents. A clear top lid is then added to provide a secondary airtight seal and allow for easy visibility, completely isolating coffee beans from light, humidity, and ambient air.
