How We Choose Which Machines to Carry
Walk into ECS Coffee or browse our website and you'll notice something right away, we don't carry every coffee machine on the market. That's intentional.
With hundreds of espresso machines, drip brewers, and coffee makers available today, it would be easy to fill our shelves with every brand we can find. Instead, we carefully select the products we sell based on one simple question:
Would we confidently recommend this machine to our friends and family?
Here's what goes into that decision.
We Test Before We Recommend
If we have the opportunity our team will test coffee machines before they ever make it onto our website or showroom floor.
We evaluate everything from espresso quality and temperature stability to ease of use, milk steaming performance, workflow, and long-term reliability, if it serves our customers needs, and many more parameters. If a machine doesn't perform consistently or offer good value, it doesn't make the cut. This obviously doesn't always mean that ever machine we decide to carry end up being a winner.
Our goal is to recommend products that make brewing coffee enjoyable, not frustrating.
Reliability Matters More Than Features
A machine can have every feature imaginable, but if it isn't built to last, those features don't mean much.
That's why we look for manufacturers with proven track records for build quality, thoughtful engineering, and dependable performance. We want machines that continue making great coffee years after they're taken out of the box.
Sometimes that means recommending a simpler machine over one packed with features if we believe it will provide a better ownership experience.
We Stand Behind What We Sell
One of the biggest reasons we're selective is because we service many of the brands we carry.
As an authorized service centre for brands like Breville, De'Longhi, Philips, Moccamaster, and others, we know what it takes to keep machines running properly. We also understand which products are supported with readily available parts and manufacturer backing.
Selling machines we can help maintain gives our customers confidence long after their purchase.
We Look for Great Value at Every Budget
Not everyone needs a dual boiler espresso machine, and not everyone wants a basic drip brewer.
That's why we carry products across a wide range of price points, from entry-level coffee makers to prosumer espresso machines.
When choosing products, we ask questions like:
-
Does this machine offer good value for its price?
-
Is it easy to learn?
-
Will it grow with the user?
-
Is the performance worth the investment?
A great coffee machine isn't necessarily the most expensive one—it's the one that's right for your needs.
We Listen to Our Customers
Some of our best additions have come from customer feedback.
We pay attention to the questions people ask in-store, online, and on social media. If customers consistently request a brand or feature, we'll research it, test it, and determine whether it meets our standards.
We also learn from real customer experiences after purchase, helping us refine the products we recommend over time.
We Believe Accessories Matter Too
A great espresso machine can only do so much without a quality grinder, fresh coffee, and the right tools.
That's why we also carefully choose the grinders, kettles, scales, filters, and accessories we carry. Every product should complement the brewing experience and help customers get the most from their equipment.
More Than a Retailer
At ECS Coffee, we're not just here to sell coffee machines.
We're here to help people find the right machine, learn how to use it, maintain it for years to come, and enjoy better coffee every day.
Whether you're buying your first brewer or upgrading to your dream espresso setup, our recommendations are based on experience, testing, serviceability, and a genuine passion for great coffee.
Because at the end of the day, we'd rather help you choose the right machine than simply sell you the most expensive one.
