The tradition of coffee production has been in the Barbosa Family since the twentieth century. Mr. Danilo Barbosa's great-grandfather, Elias Barbosa, passed it on to his grandfather, Claudio Barbosa de Paula, and from him to his father, Jairo Barbosa de Paula, and now Mr. Barbosa works with his generation, his sons Vítor Marcelo and Sergio Ricardo. When Danilo says family business he means husband, wife, father, son and daughter-in-law all working together, so the office is like a big home where everybody shares the same dream, supports each other, learns and grows together. The office is located in Carmo do Paranaíba, Estate of Minas Gerais. Danilo's team is composed of ten people, all working together to deliver the best coffee.
From the choice of the varietal to the harvesting season, the Barbosa family works hard to deliver the best coffee. All the processes are closely watched and the Quality Control Team follows all the stages of the traceability program, from the tree to the warehouse, and from the warehouse to the world.
The Cerrado region has all the conditions needed in order to produce specialty coffee. During the dry season humidity is low, temperatures are lower, and the coffee quality is accentuated. Defined seasons, soil, and topography combined with experienced crop management provide everything needed to deliver the best coffee.

If you are purchasing a bag of whole bean coffee on our website, you can select your grind method of choice (at no extra charge!) from the dropdown and we will grind and ship it to you. We grind the beans freshly for you at our warehouse in ECS Coffee Burlington right before your order is shipped, and reseal the package to maintain optimal freshness in transit.
If you are visiting us in store, you can also request for your beans to be ground in store before you take them home.
We use a commercial BUNN Burr Grinder to grind the beans.
Please note: Freshly ground coffee is non-refundable and not returnable. To ensure that you receive a ground coffee that is consistent with your brew method of choice, refer to our Grind Chart below!
FINE |
For use with espresso machines. Fine coffee grinds will have the size and feel of sand. |
MEDIUM FINE |
Choose a medium fine grind if you are brewing with a Moka Pot, stovetop espresso brewers or an Aeropress. |
MEDIUM |
Cone Filter - We use two medium settings depending on your brewer. The Cone Filter medium setting is a bit finer, and is suitable for pour-over drip brewers (cone style) such as Hario, Melitta, Clever. It is also used for cone style automatic brewers. Flat Bottom Filter - This setting is suitable for coffee machines with a flat bottom basket filter, such as commercial automatic drip machines. It is also an appropriate setting for if you have a refillable coffee capsule for use in Keurig® machines. Medium coffee grinds will be around the same size as sea salt. |
PERCOLATOR |
If you are brewing with a percolator, the grind setting is a bit coarser than your standard medium grind, to minimize grinds making it through the filter. We use a percolator-specific setting on our grinder. |
MEDIUM COARSE |
Vaccuum brewers, Chemex. |
COARSE |
For french press, cold brew coffee. A coarse grind is very chunky in look, like crushed peppercorns. |
Remember that this coffee grind chart is a guideline! If you use a coffee brewing method that is not listed here, feel free to reach out and we will let you know which grind is the best for your brewer.
