All in all this is a good machine and we are fairly happy with it. In addition to coffee and hot water, I enjoy the option of cappuccino, latte and espresso...especially if guests are over. I'll be honest, I don't love the way the coffee tastes compared to a good drip brewer (i.e. Moccamaster)...but that's subjective. It does a good job on all the other drinks, and things such as default cup size and grind are adjustable which I like.
My main complaint, and it's a fairly annoying flaw in my opinion, is that it cannot sense when it is low enough on water that it can't make a full cup of coffee. It will therefore grind the beans and start the compacting and brewing process, only to stop 1/2 way through once it runs out of water. So you have to throw out the coffee and start again, wasting coffee and also adding unnecessary wear and tear on the machine. It DOES have a sensor when it is OUT of water, so I wish it also had one that would notify you it it was too low on water to brew a coffee.
I also find some of the menus to be cumbersome to navigate. I can understand them wanting to keep it simple by not adding a touchscreen or menu, but the series of button pushes you have to do to do things such as as change the filter or descale is not intuitive at all, and almost always involves consulting the manual. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying for the price.
